How to use the voltage test pen

The electric test pen is one of the most used tools by electricians, but many people do not know how to use the electric test pen. Let me tell you how to use the electric test pen.

Hold the insulating part of the test pen between the thumb, middle finger, ring finger, and little finger, and touch the metal cap or metal clip at the top of the test pen with the index finger. If the charged body has current passing through and the circuit is unobstructed, the neon bulb of the test pen will glow. At the other end of the test pen, there is a same thing as a screwdriver. This part can only be in contact with the object to be measured, and must not be in contact with the human body. The following will tell you how to use the test pen in different situations.

1. Voltage measurement
When measuring, touch the line under test with a test pen, if the test pen lights up, it proves that there is voltage in the line; otherwise, there is no voltage.
2. Distinguish between zero line and ground line
First, measure several wires in front of you with an electric pen. Only one wire can light the electric pen, and this wire is the live wire. Afterwards, holding an electric pen in the left and right hands, the surveyor stands on an insulating object and does not touch the ground. Use one of the stylus to touch the live wire, and the other stylus to touch the line to be measured. If the two electric pens do not light up or the brightness is low at this time, the line to be tested is the ground line. If the two electric pens are normally lit at this time, the line to be measured is the zero line.
